Malaria is a contagious ailment that is caused by the transmission of a parasite by the mosquitoes. It is a fatal disease of the tropical areas of the planet and is caused by a parasite called Plasmodium.
There are four types of plasmodium parasites that can cause the ailment and these together are called as malaria parasites. Vivax, malariae, ovale and falciparum are the four different malarial parasites out of which falciparum is the one that is most serious and life threatening.
Cycles of fever and chills, headaches, sweating, nausea, muscle aches, fatigue, diarrhea, vomiting, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), anemia, bloody stools, coughing, yellowing of the whites of the eyes etc are some of the symptoms of malaria. There are a lot of ways by which malaria can be prevented and here are some of them:
High risk area: in order to prevent one from being infected by malaria, it is always good to avoid the areas that are thought as high risk areas for mosquito bites.
Since all of us are aware of the fact that the mosquitoes are the carriers of the ailment and a mere sting can easily multiply the disease, hence it is best for the starters to avoid those places that can have greater risk for the spread of the ailment.
Cover your body: The best way to avoid contracting the disease is by covering up the body. by wearing clothes that helps us to cover up the whole body, one can avoid the mosquitoes suitably. The use of permethrin clothes is thought as a wise decision as these types of clothes are made up of a synthetic chemical which is useful as insecticide as well.
Cleaning garbage cans: Make it a point to clean the garbage cans on a regular basis else these unclean and dirty cans can become the most convenient breeding grounds for the mosquitoes. They should also be closed tightly when left unused.
Soaps and lotions: Scented lotions, soaps, perfumes and suntan lotions should be avoided while leaving home.
Mosquito nets: Mosquito nets are extremely useful for all the individuals at the time of sleeping as they prevent the mosquitoes from disturbing while sleeping.
