My husband has been having severe pain in his back, around the area of his right kidney. He's also been very nauseated, and not hungry at all. He went to the ER last night and they didn't find anything unusual with his lab work. He'll be going to his regular doctor in a few days. My question, or rather his question is, do people who have kidney stones generally lose their appetite?

And the X-ray showed??
The first kidney stone I had made me puke like crazy, so I guess my answer would be yes. if he has pain near his kidney I can't imagine that they didn't do an ex ray to check for one. That's the way to find out if you have a kidney stine or not.
They lose their appetite when they are in pain (anyone does) but the largest complaint of kidney stones is PAIN like you can't imagine. if he has a stone, ER trips will happen (be prepared) and you might carry a copy of IVP results and notes from his treating MD as this can speed the process of IV morphine in the ER (which is the only choice in an acute attack).
