What are the signs and symptoms of a nervous breakdown?

I think my dad is about to have one! I'm serious too. Like what does the person do? have you ever had a nervous breakdown?

Throwing things around, screaming and yelling, and they say very malicious things sometimes. Basically goes out of control.
