What are you perimenopause symptoms and treatments?

by Symptom Advice on December 5, 2010

I'm 43 years old and seem to be starting into perimenopause. Tonight I have tingling in my cheeks and a hot feeling, although I'm not hot to touch. I don't know if it's symptoms of perimenopause or to do with my thyroid. The thyroid is gone and today they said my thyroid is low so they are increasing the dose. I hope that helps. has anyone else experienced that with perimenopause? The hot flushing has gone on all evening. I'm tremendously tired lately during the daytime. I don't have health insurance so my doctor is treating me conservativly.

Hi Hot Sister! yes, I had perimenipause from 44-50 years old. I finally stopped having my period and went through menapause. It's been hell! Hot flashes, body aches, depression, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, foggy brain, tired, stressed and angery! I used all kinds of natual remedies, but nothing helped and I was miserable and I finally gave in to HRT. Hormone therapy–It helped immensely and my doctor keeps up with me and what's going on with my body because of the risks. My sister has great
luck with Black Cohosh (at drug stores) and Don Qui. Moderate intake of soy helps. always take calcium for your bones because they go next. I am up most nights and use that for reading, praying, studying, and laying on my coooool leather couch. I take a small fan with me everywhere I go. it helps to share your new life change with your man and I hope he is as supportive as my husband is. My thyriod is low and it contributes to the problem. Hot drinks especially coffee gives me more hot flashes, wine, exercising, stress and do too. I really had to cut down my stressers. I am so tired all of the time and feel like a blimp! I take ZEBEC(B vitamins, zinc, E and C) calcium and soy tablets. Without health insurance it is so hard. I will pray for you. there are so many of us in your shoes. Good luck!

Been there ~ was having premenopause since early thirties and then they done a complete histo on me. Doctor put me on Zoloft and that didn't help. Then I went to a specialist and he tested my thyroid….needless to say the thyroid was off and I was being over dosed on estrogen ~ yep you heard me right they were overdosing me on estrogen that was the reasons for the mood swings and the crying and plain out meanness

I"m 50, and I've had perimenopausal symptoms for several years. I wish my mom could help me by remembering how it was for her, and when she went through all this, but she has Alzheimer's and doesn't remember much at all.

My hot flashes are just as you described yours, as is the tiredness. I get tingling in my palms, my hair has changed slightly (less thick), and I've had difficulty losing weight. No thyroid difficulties as of yet. My periods are either very light, or very heavy, and sometimes they skip a month… or 7 months!

My health insurance is major medical only. My doctor prescribed a veryvery low dosage of birth control pills, and it's worked wonders to regulate all the symptoms.

I am 45 years old ,very active in sport ,since past 5 years my
menses getting little but still come in on time , last year i was thought 'm getting menopause as my menses stop ,no more blooding at all , during 3mounts I've took Herb ganoexel +evening primrose oil +ouster powder, my menses back to normal

I would bet it is your thyroid. you will know if you ever get a hot flash…it lasts for only several minutes but can come several in an hour…everybody is different. The tiredness isn't usually a sign of perimenopause…but a symptom of hypothyroidism.
