Are there symptoms of a nervous break down?

by Symptom Advice on March 31, 2011

Is there anyway to tell if youre about to have a nervous break down? I.E. symptoms, feelings, clues or anything?

Nervous breakdown isn't a technical diagnosis for a specific problem. it is kind of outdated. But it can be still used today to say that you started having psychological problems.

Some of the symptoms include:

Hearing voices, seeing things that don't exist
Little interest in activities you used to enjoy
Sleeping/Eating too little/too much
Anxiety/Panic
Thoughts of death/suicide

It will probably be a snow ball of events until eventually the straw will break the camels back so to speak. If you have been under a ton of stressfull events, situations, or even just not taking the time out of your day to get some R & R and do nothin to make it better, it will continue to get worse. If you find yourself closing off to other people in your life or feeling very lonely and have feelings of self pitty. If you feel traped in a bad situation. or if you have been through something emotionaly or physically traumatic it can make you feel like you are going crazy. Even just doing the same thing day in and day out day after day can make you feel this way. or if you are having financial troubles or lost your job. But just know that whatever you are experiencing you are not the only one. As human beings we have the choice to decide how important something is and in the end there aren't a whole lot of things that are that important. your happieness is what's important and that lies within yourself. I am only 23 but I know how it feels to think you are experiencing a mental breakdown I've probably had 50 of them. Lol I'm lucky I'm not locked In a looney bin some where. that was a joke~! but I hope you feel better. find some one that will give you a big warm hug!!!!
