Can prostatitis have only one symptom?

by Symptom Advice on January 25, 2011

I was diagnosed with prostatitis 3 months ago, with symptoms of rectal and perineum pain, urinary frequency, and dribbling. After 8 weeks of antibiotics, I was left with only pain. This is my only symptom, just pain. Is this still likely prostatitis, with only the one symptom? I've read a lot and it seems that guys consistently have urinary issues along with pain, but I only have pain. very confusing and distressing, since it just wont go away.

Yes, you should go back to the Dr., or best yet to an Urologist. I had an enlarged prostate and needed operation. it was not cancerous, but it never hurt either. If you have pain you not wait longer because prostate cancer is very prevalent and if it is diagnosed early can be cure.

I've heard that prostate infections can be difficult to cure, they can be very persistant.

I would suggest that you see the doctor again.
