Can you get tetanus even if you have had the shots?

by Symptom Advice on April 30, 2011

My friend thinks he may have tetanus…but he has had the tetanus shot before. he is going to the doctor in the morning…but I was just wondering. he has these symptoms:
Swollen throat/difficulty swallowing
Muscle rigidness
Chills(mainly in his legs)
Spinal Pain
Pain in left abdomen

are these the symptoms of tetanus…or something else?
I'm just concerned about my friend. there is nothing I can really do about it.

You can if you have lost the immunity to tetanus. you would need a titer to determine if there is an immunity.

Most people don't know this but whatever punctured his skin would need to not only be rusty but also must have originated from an area that has cow patties-a- plenty.

Good luck to him at the dr.
