a GROUP is hoping to raise enough money to fund a DVD to help ME sufferers by holding a Christmas craft fair tomorrow.

Myalgic encephalomyelitis, or ME, is characterised by a range of neurological symptoms and signs such as muscle pain with intense physical or mental exhaustion.

The Dorset group wants to provide support for ME sufferers through a DVD of advice.

Trustee and link group member Helen Smith watched her 18-year-old daughter battle the condition when she started university.

She said: “Gradually it started to lift, we don’t know why. But she was lucky.”

Mrs Smith added: “ME is one of the forgotten illnesses.”

The DVD will feature interviews with doctors and occupational therapists providing information and a positive message.

To raise funds for the project, a Christmas craft fair is being held tomorrow at the United Church, South Street, Dorchester from 10am to 4pm.

There will be stalls including jewellery, cards, teddy bears and toys.
