THE only hospital-based hair expert in the UK is opening a new clinic in North Yorkshire.

Consultant trichologist Iain Sallis will launch his new clinic at BMI The Duchy Hospital in the centre of Harrogate on may 4.

The opening will mark the fifth of mr Sallis’ clinics based in BMI Healthcare hospitals and will be the ninth in his network of clinics across the country.

he will be treating such symptoms and problems as psoriasis, hair loss, alopecia and baldness.

mr Sallis began his career working as a hairdresser after studying for a philosophy degree at Hull University. he then studied at the London Institute of Trichologists where he graduated in 2002.

“Working as a trichologist I come into contact with people who are suffering with hair and scalp related problems on a daily basis,” he said.

“I work closely with clients’ GPs to try and get to the underlying medical issues that often underpin these conditions.

“From stress to vitamin deficiencies and bad diets, through to looking at the genetics involved with hair loss, the people I see are often understandably distressed.”
