How long does it normally take to recover from a tetanus shot?

by Symptom Advice on August 19, 2010

I had to get a tetanus shot about 9 days ago. although the soreness has decreased, I still have some pain from the injection. I can deal with the pain, but I also continue to have some redness, swelling and heat to the touch in my upper arm. It's been so long since I had a tetanus shot I cannot remember if it is normal for symptoms to last for this long. other than my arm annoying me I feel perfectly fine. Does anyone know if applying either heat or ice might help?

I had a tet shot many years ago, it took 3 months for the lump (injection site) to disappear .. and it was REAL sore for that time.
