How serious is tetanus? And what are ways to get through it?

by Symptom Advice on December 8, 2010

I had an injury with a reasonable risk of tetanus and I decided to wait and see what happened. I think I am developing symptoms now and I read "There is no "cure" for tetanus once a person develops symptoms, just supportive treatment and management of complications." if this is true and I have already started developing symptoms what are my chances of survival? I read it has a high mortality rate and now I am worried. Also what could I experience and is there a recovery period?

It is called lock jaw and it is treatable with a shot from your doctor. usually you get this if you have cut yourself on something dirty metal that is rusty.
