–The Canadiens are taking extra precautions in attempt to prevent an outbreak of flu and other ailments. The team is scrubbing down the dressing room, urging players to use hand sanitizers and sending players home if they show any flu-like symptoms. Tomas Plekanec and Roman Hamrlik have missed games because of the flu this season while Michael Cammalleri returned to action Saturday after missing two games with strep throat.

–The win moved the Canadiens within two points of Boston in the Northeast Conference race although the third-place Bruins still hold a game in hand. Montreal is also only two points behind the Rangers and the Washington Capitals and Montreal has a game in hand on the Rangers.

QUOTE TO NOTE "you try to be careful but what are you going to do, stay at home all day and wear a mask when you come to the rink? you can’t tell with flu. you can cross the street, someone sneezes and you’re sick." — Canadiens center Scott Gomez on efforts to void flu.
