Though the anxiety subsides temporarily the person involved starts performing the rituals once the obsessive thoughts return. People with this disorder are so obsessed that they forget to realize it is interfering with their daily routines. They are unable to stop themselves from achieving their goals.

Some common symptoms are not to keep things in order or symmetry, behaving in a socially unacceptable way, fear of committing a mistake, fear of contracting infections, repeatedly having baths, arranging things in a particular way, checking for locks whether they are locked, stoves are off and many more.  Sometimes OCD include phobias such as fear of spiders, fear of flying. It attaches to a receptor in the next nerve cell to bring about the effects of serotonin. But people with this health disorder, the receptor gets blocked from functioning thus undergo problems relating to OCD. The selective intake of medicine containing required doses of serotonin might help the patients to overcome this problem.
