Symptoms of hormone withdrawal with the pill? I have a fever?

by Symptom Advice on January 19, 2011

I'm on my second pill pack and this is the first pack without breakthrough bleeding. my body got used to my pill (Yaz) and im at the end of my pack. on the second day without the hormone pills, i started bleeding (this is normal of course), then as my bleeding got heavier due to the hormone withdrawal. I also got a bad headache and a fever. The headache passed after the fever took place. as far as I can tell, I don't have any symptoms of being sick besides the fever. do you get a fever from hormone withdrawal?

(Too long, did not read;) Can the sugar pill cycle cause hormone withdrawal and/or a fever?

You don't get withdrawal from hormones, the same way you can get it from other drugs. Withdrawal happens when your brain chemistry equalizes to deal with the presence of a drug; when that drug is no longer there, your brain chemistry is thrown off and that causes the symptoms. Birth control hormones are not the kind of drug that will cause this change.

These symptoms are just changes in your body's hormone levels, due to both stopping taking the active pills, and your period happening.

A fever is not really common with your period, so it is likely you had some mild cold or something, coincidentally at the same time.

headaches maybe but you should not have a fever
