Those with multiple sclerosis: what works to decrease your symptoms?

by Symptom Advice on May 3, 2011

Besides prescription drugs, what has worked for you? As in lifestyle changes, diet, exercise, herbs, vitamins, etc. Please be specific, and say which symptoms have been helped.

Thanks!

I follow the Dr Swank diet and that helps a lot in MANY ways. I also take magnesium to help with muscle spasms. Most importantly look up something called Low Dose Naltrexone on the internet. it was a BIG help to me and I still take it. Start it ASAP.

Well, for me…I start having symptoms if I am not healthy. so to make them go away, I start to sleep earlier…sleep a lot longer…naps help. Eat WAYYY healthier…sushi is a big one for me I love it.

And significantly reduce your stress! Stress throws all of these things off…automatically if you're stressed, you don't sleep good, you don't eat right…

If I am too stressed…I take sleep medication, because rest is very important when it comes to M.S. And of course, exercise, preferably way from heat. such as swimming, or exercising indoors.

Oh yes, and fish oil supplements help a lot too, it reduces nerve swelling a little.

my husband has mild MS, his symptoms include tingling sensations in his hands and arms and a feeling of lightness in his body.

He started taking Ginko Bilboa and Ginseng as well as keeping active by going to the gym regularly, this has dramatically improved his symptoms and he leads a totally normal life
