Tomato allergy is caused by the protein found in skin, juice and seed of tomato.

When your immune system is malfunctioning, it causes a histamine reaction to the protein present in tomato juice or tomato seeds or its skin.  This gives tomato allergy symptoms.

Tomato allergy symptoms usually occur soon after its consumption.

Those who are allergic to tomato are also at a risk for allergy to potato, eggplant and tobacco. They are of the same nightshade family.

Tomato alleregy can be confirmed with skin patch test or blood test of detecting IgE immunoglobulin.
