The Wisconsin Science & Technology Symposium at UW-Green Bay aims to link research ideas with the business community. WiSys Technology Foundation Managing Director Maliyakal John says the event will allow smaller UW schools, already known for their academic resources, to show off research work they’ve been doing in recent years.
The event allows entrepreneurs and investors to network with faculty involved with the research development. “we believe that we have an opportunity for economic growth through technology based business growth in our regions,” says John.
John stresses the importance of undergrads being involved in research as a way to stay competitive in the job market.
In addition to work being done in UW System, the 3rd annual symposium will showcase technology from the Marshfield Clinic, Aurora BayCare Medical Center and industry in diverse fields including renewable energy, biomedical devices, therapeutics and polymers and composites.
The public is welcome to attend the event which runs today and Friday. Educators, lawmakers and Governor Doyle are joining more than a dozen business leaders and technical experts.
