Do doctors usually do a test for the seasonal flu or do they just diagnose based on symptoms?

by Symptom Advice on June 17, 2011

I think I might have the flu because it's going around in this area – if I go to the doctor will they simply ask for my symptoms and give me a diagnosis? is this what usually happens? Or do they always do some kind of sample test? thanks! (NOTE: i'm NOT asking about swine flu)

There are many types or strains of the flu, more then you'd believe but, they're all Pretty much the same. The doctor diagnosis's due to what's going around the area then gives the meds accordingly.
