Is ulcerative colitis link with depression?

by Symptom Advice on March 24, 2011

I want to know if depression can make ulcerative colitis symptoms worse or cause the person to get out of remission of this terrible disease?

Depression makes everything worse but I do sympathise about this debilitating problem. It is very difficult to remain positive when you are struggling with this.

Can you tell your doctor how you are feeling and ask if there is any new progress in treating this illness?

Try to remain positive.

Best wishes.

I would think it can make the symptons worse. I was diagnose with UC at age 20. Soo even though I was in alot of pain & really ill I maintain faith & a sense of humor. I am now 27 & good. I have never have any flare ups & or remissions since then. I would say just stay positive, join a group with others with UC & have family & friends to support you.
