What is pancreatic cancer?

Pancreatic cancer is the development of cancer cells or malignant growth on the pancreas.

The pancreas is a gland organ found in the digestive and endocrine systems and its function is to produce different vital hormones such as glucagons and insulin. It also produces pancreatic juices which contain digestive enzymes that aid in the digestion of fat, carbohydrates and protein in the small intestine.

Symptoms of Pancreatic cancer are:

Abdominal Pain

This is a very common symptom of those suffering from pancreas. Remember that the pancreas is involved in the digestion of food and its sited in the abdomen. this pain is concentrated in the upper part of the abdomen and may affect the back.

Inexplicable Weight Loss

Unexplained weight loss is usually an indication of ill health. this is also associated with abdominal pain and it is also one of the first major symptoms of pancreatic cancer.

Loss of Appetite

A loss of appetite is also a symptom of pancreatic cancer. A test should be carried out to determine the cause of the loss of appetite as it is also a symptom in many other illnesses.

Jaundice

This is the yellowing of the eyes and skin. this painless yellowing is a major sign of pancreatic cancer. this is owing to the increase in bilirubin in the blood and occurs when a tumor is blocking or has completely blocked bile ducts impeding the flow of bile.

Other symptoms are the onset of diabetes, itching of the skin and changes in the color of stool.

The best way of preventing pancreatic cancer is to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and to have a healthy exercise regime. this only reduces the risk of developing pancreatic cancer. It is not a guarantee.

If you notice any of the above symptoms of pancreatic cancer, we advise you consult a physician to have test conducted on you.

It is unwise however to limit yourself to orthodox medicine alone as many have had remarkable recoveries using powerful herbal remedies.
